I feel exactly how Russell feels. I would never be able to shoot an animal. Atleast Joe is eating the animal aside from the other " benefits" he mentioned but trophy hunting like that dentist killing that African lion for me is just inhumane.

Hunting is evil. The only food humans should eat is food from the grocery store. Even Jesus says that. If you eat any kind of animal you are a beast of Satan. That's why we invented grocery stores. Nothing has to die that way. You just go to the store and buy food and no animals get hurt or suffer.

it is different when you hunt an animal for food than when you hunt and kill an animal for fun to post the picture on fb... Personally, I also wouldn't be able to kill an animal, but I can understand Joe's explanation that killing an animal in a hunt is more humane than torturing an animal in a slaughter house. Btw, we make plans to travel to the Mars, but still didn't do anything to breed animals in a humane way, or to kill them for food in a humane way without causing them to suffer. Animals feel pain just like we humans do. Think about that...

I am a hunter and I both love the challenge and Comraderie that comes from hunting. That stated every time I kill an animal I legitimately feel really bad, like I just took a life. But I think that feeling of guilt is a good thing, because when we get meet from the store we don’t think about the fact that a living creature had died. this forces you to acknowledge that a creature has died for you to be able to sustain your self. Which is the circle of life in the animal kingdom, that we humans like to pretend we are not a part of, but we are.

These two men are both great people from an outsiders perspective. I really like how Russell Brand has openly talked about going through a life of addiction and has successfully worked hard at conquering that addiction. That it’s a daily task to keep his mind and body on the right positive path in a good way. Joe Rogan has had such an amazing opportunity in life to be able to talk and listen to so many top bright minded people and successful people. This has allowed him to retain such a vast array of bullet point knowledge from different fields. Just in that, he has become such a wise person and would be amazing to hang around on a regular basis just to pick his brain and learn from him!

If prepared correctly, venison (deer meat) is delicious. I can only imagine what an elk steak would taste like. I have had an elk burger before and it was great. And Joe's right, the most humane way an animal can die,is at the hands of a hunter and his firearm. Can you imagine how horrific it must be to be eaten alive? If animals could talk, they'd say the same thing we do... "that's how I wanna go out, shot right between the eyes. quick and painless." I guess that would be their equivalent to our dying in our sleep.

@Gabriela Cordova I don't have a fear of the world coming to an end. I do not believe in cannibalism, and I would never resort to cannibalism, ever. I do not believe it's wrong to hunt animals, if I have to. I don't believe in wasting food. If I have to hunt for my food, I would only hunt for what I need. So there would be no needless killing of any creatures. I would be doing all of this with a spirit and attitude of thanksgiving, for the land, for food and clothing the animals provided, and for that animal. Now for population control. If I was to live in the woods by myself away from the modern day grid. I would keep track of my surroundings, including the local predators and their territories. Like black bears, Grizzlies, mountain lions, lynx, bobcats, wolverines, wolves. All of these predators would have the same prey as I do. Elk, mule deer, caribou, whitetail deer, moose, antelope; I haven't even started on fish. If the land can only support so many grazers, it will support only so many predators. If the land suffers the water will suffers. This isn't knowledge from just reading this is knowledge from living it. The error and conflict of logic you say I have doesn't hold water to me. This is the life of many people for generations. The true error and conflict of logic in this conversation is: Everything comes from the store, and we have no need to know or how our ancestors lived. In this life of convenience, it is so easy to forget.

    4 giorni fa
  • Gabriela Cordova
    Gabriela Cordova

@David Savage can you explain the relevance your first question has to your needless murdering of animals, by your hands? You sound like you have an irrational fear of the world ending in your lifetime and that you'll actually need to apply your skills. It's definitely a useful to know how to farm, but to try and justify hunting for this fear that is not grounded in reality is inexcusable to me. With This logic, I could justify killing people and eating them in this dire situation, as this is somethijg humans have actually done.

If everybody hunted, no more animals. But what’s way worse than hunting is raising animals in an environment much safer than the wild only to kill them when convenient. I think the best way of going about it is to just eat the eggs like Joe said, get the milk, etc. Let the animal live.

Any Lynyrd Skynyrd listening herp derp can shoot an animal with a fucking rifle, and boy, they sure do a lot of that. It's nothing to celebrate. It can be done multiple times a day. It's about as much of an accomplishment as me squeezing out a shit without making a splash. While I think Joe's argument for hunting is just his way of justifying being bloodthirsty and enjoying violence (look at his career), I appreciated Russell Brand's thoughtful restraint here. He doesn't hunt because he personally couldn't kill such a beautiful creature. Why? Because some humans have what is called "empathy." It's something Joe (and far too much of the population) lacks, and Brand did a fine job of conveying this in so many words. Winner of the debate: Russell Brand.

It depends on what you're view of expensive is and what kind of hunt. I'm definitely not saying it's cheap and elk meat isn't cheaper than beef by any means. I took a public land elk trip to Montana with a couple friends and it ran us about 2100 each. But we saved and planned this trip for 3 years and only had to travel 560 miles. If it's something you want to do any one could put 50 bucks a month in a coffee can and save up.
